A distant memory! Ubuntu's latest LTS release, 24.04 Noble Numbat, fixes the "year 2038" problem on some hardware.
I identified the 2038 problem to my employer in the 1990s, when working on their Y2K fixes. I guess 2038 was too far in the future to worry about, so we didn't fix it then. I doubt anyone is still there to regret that choice.
