Further encouraging from usethis::use_author to add/use ORCID is a low hanging fruit. Previous discussions might be a good starting point: https://github.com/r-lib/usethis/issues/108 to see if it was enough. (Or simply reach out to maintainers that do not have it)
I think it wasn't explained well (or at all), but having enough money to pay some sysadmins to update Fedora or upgrade the machines would be also helpful. Currently to document the common problems in CRAN submission they depended on the R consortium.
