So, I have this old humidifier that keeps the utility room dry. But when it is too cool in the house it freezes up. I was inventing all kinds of control systems either temperature sensors for cycle it. But I thought I’d start by plugging it in to a smart plug. Turns out a heat pump uses less power when the evaporator is insulated by ice. So I can just use the power consumption to know when it needs a rest. #HomeAssistant
