Just found the company again that promotes security and improvements on #FOSS while paying maintainers. Just sharing here to have somewhere to look it up.
The blog has some interesting posts explaining how this works for companies and maintainers. Currently supports pypi, npm, nuget, rubygems. I hope one day it includes R too (CRAN and Bioconductor at least): https://tidelift.com/
