As the fireworks go off tonight, enjoy them. Be wise, keep your fingers, try and be considerate of those for whom giant sky explosions trigger bad memories.
But never forget that all the fireworks we light off are evocative of the kind of sounds our forebears heard during the battles they went through to give us our chance to be here.
I hope we avoid slipping back into a time, for any reason, driven by anybody, that we have to fight over those same liberties.
