I became estranged from a close family member before realizing I was autistic, and I wonder to what extent it can be explained by me finding it exhausting to deal with a non-autistic person. It's uncanny that my body could be like, "No." as my mind is straining to rationalize and missing the point.
I'm curious if others have had this experience or perhaps haven't realized it until reading this! Comments welcome.
