The bridge over the Colorado River at Hite, UT, with the Henry Mountains peeking up in the distance. In March there was still a lot of snow on the Henrys; probably not much now.

I recently read Edward Abbey's 1975 novel "The Monkey Wrench Gang", which I'd somehow never gotten around to reading. It holds up surprisingly well, and it was especially fun to read if you've traveled in those areas of the Southwest. This bridge is one of the structures addressed in the novel.

Looking under a bridge, we see the Colorado River moving through a sandstone canyon. In the distance you can see layered sandstone canyon walls in a mixture of reds and yellows. Peeking up from behind the canyon walls are snowy mountains.
