2000: If we switch to EVs, we can build enough renewable emergy to both replace fossils and power the EVs.
2010: Oh, we also need more renewables to give everyone 4K videos. That's tricky but we can do it!
2019: Right, also we need energy for these cool crypto currencies. Totally doable, lemme just double the wind mills.
