Things that make things hard for #Linux #kernel regression tracking and people that running into regressions:
when fixes are committed to some subsystem tree (in this case despite some review comments from a well known dev.) without mentioning that on the lists to make the fact visible to outsiders.
In this case the patch even made it to various stable trees before it reached mainline (but unless something really odd happens it will do so later this week).
