The front page of the Guardian overemphasises Microsoft. In addition, this explainer uses the word "Crowdstrike" only in the last section: https://www.theguardian.com/technology/article/2024/jul/19/windows-global-it-outage-what-we-know-so-far
The phrasing is awkward and muddies the water as to who caused the breakage.
Initially I thought it was incompetence i.e. a journalist lacking technical literacy. But now I think the Guardian is deliberately trying to confuse people into thinking MS caused this.
Maybe they think it would make a better story.
