I saw microservices being advocated for flexibility, decoupling, scalability.
But in-process modularity offers flexibility and decoupling without the choreography cost of microservices. Microservices force decoupling but there are more lightweight methods to maintain this, with less code and less transport overhead.
Microservices do allow separate scalability but whether you need that depends on context. The runtime can be managed by others, which has costs and benefits
