I think the problem goes deeper. I think it's Intel's ME. The Management Engine suite of software is actually pervasive software -- and I don't write that lightly.

I think there is an ME component somewhere in my custom build PC that is inhibiting the install of any Linux or third-party OS. How do I know this? I tried an #Arch Linux GUI installer. Those #distros are not supposed to rely exclusively on Secure Boot, so I don't think it's Secure Boot which is blocking me.
