Sunday hike, 16 miles/26km, 3900'/1190m of climbing; Santa Barbara campground - Jicarita Peak -> Middle Fork, Pecos Wilderness, New Mexico
This was a tough one, especially given the trail we followed for 2 miles down from Jicarita Peak, c/o OSM, that wasn't a trail at all. Deleted!
Not sure I need any more aspen colors for this fall.
BTW, Colorado hikers: we saw 5 people on this hike 😎
A view of the Truchas peaks ridge from the east, with early signs of fall (aspen) color visible at lower elevations. Pecos Wilderness, New Mexico
panorama shot of the traverse to Jicarita Peak and the Truchas peaks ridge in the distance, Pecos Wilderness, New Mexico
Intense but early fall colors of golden aspen leaves, both in the foreground and the distance, viewed from the Middle Fork (Santa Barbara River) trail, Pecos Wilderness, New Mexico
