Why is the onus always on opensource folks to "show their hand?"
For example, why the eff doesn't Microsoft have an option in their core OS's start up scripts that looks for other operating systems? Why does it always fall on the Linux operating system's shoulders to do the right thing?
And why does the SecureBIOS or Microsoft-centered utility that scans for other devices attached to your PC after Advanced Startup runs always label devices differently every time after each boot? *That* is odd.
