Interesting point made in a letter to the Economist last week as to who has to make compromises to form a majority government.
First past the post: Voters compromise by going for the least worst option or the one with the best chance to beat the worst option. Politicians don’t compromise as one party usually gets a majority.
Proportional representation: Voters can pick whoever they want (no compromise), but politicians then have to compromise to work together.
