Something you nerds should understand is that most people really don't have a problem with ChatGPT in and of itself. That one operates within reasonably accepted constraints.
When "they" started mixing AI tech into search engines and began using chatbots to distribute false imagery online it became singularly gargantuan in impact.
Nobody wants that echelon in our personal lives. The government knows this, too. Which is why they are hesitant to regulate any of it. They don't know what "it" is.
