The Rust in Linux conflagration is the kind of open source community trainwreck I find difficult to turn away from.
As seems to be a common pattern, a large part of this is culture clash, mixed with politics about who has what power.
There must be scholarly wisdom into what makes this spin out of control and how to help heal and improve. So besides giant technical debates and focusing on who said what (admittedly entertaining to observe?), what can be done?
