I recently checked out vols. 1 and 2 of "My Favorite Thing is Monsters" by Emil Ferris from Hoopla. It's one of the most stunning examples of comics art I've ever seen. It's about art, mythology, holocaust survivors, monster movies, and kids who don't fit in, with wonderful ballpoint pen on notebook paper illustrations. It's set in 1960s Chicago, but has prominent flashbacks to Nazi Germany. It's shocking, heartbreaking and hopeful, like the best monster movies.
