This took me a bit of refactoring, but now the logic for checking which spaces are buildable is reusable, so that the UI can use it to mark unbuildable squares red.
It may not be a massive change, but it feels SO much better to use now.
What triggered me to implement it was that I added structures that must be built a certain distance from others of the same type, and it was just very hard to figure out where you could and couldn't build such structures.
