I've started to think there are areas where the use of imperial units might make sense. One is the width of guitar necks. Imagine my delight when Gretsch informed me the neck of their new 'Jim Dandy' parlour guitars is 42.86 mm or 1.6875". That's 43 mm, or one and 11/16 Inches for anyone who doesn't have a ruler marked in tenths of a thousandths of an Inch OR hundredths of a millimetre. I'd have settled for "still too narrow".
