I re-watched a few episodes of The Herculoids (a truly terrible cut-rate Hanna-Barbera cartoon from the late 60s) yesterday, and it reminded me of the WAY I watched cartoons like the Herculoids, which I had forgotten.
I treated them essentially as FRAMEWORKS around which a story could be told, and my little brain feverishly edited out the contradictions and dreamed up insertions that worked, trying to tell myself a complete story in real time as I watched the Technicolor nonsense.
