thanks to @rweekly this post is going gangbusters at the moment
and on a re-read the only thing I can think to add is basically:
I've gotten paid 3? times now to basically re-implement tune for a specific domain. Every time I've taken a pretty different approach, and it's never quite worked.
I don't know why, exactly, but generic model tuning is incredibly hard to manage
