🧵 I attended my first conference () this past week! A few highlights:

1. Having the opportunity to present some of our team’s work on requirements capture (slides: gmschroeder.com/software/rseco). (Shown here sneaking in one of my favourite data visualisations - one of cartographer Harold Fisk’s maps of the evolution of the Mississippi River - as an analogy for complex, evolving research projects).

A woman with glasses presenting at the RSECon24. Behind her, on a large screen, is a slide titled "Embarking on a new RSE project" with the text, "Goal: Map the course of the project" and "Challenge: Large, evolving research projects." This point is illustrated with a data visualisation of the Mississippi River by Harold Fisk, in which tangled curves in shades of red, orange, green, and blue show historic courses of the river.
