First attempt at compressing pixel art: I'm turning 24000 bytes into 14524.
After a bit of initial disappointment and a reminder that this is a naive implementation of a primitive algorithm, where the only benefit is understanding pixel formats, I checked gzip (which doesn't understand pixel formats): gzip -9 takes 17459 bytes for the same file.
I have barely started and I'm already significantly better than gzip. That's a good start.
