Saw some magnificent giant mushrooms on this past weekend’s hike! #Mushtodon #Mushrooms
A very large shelf-like mushroom with thick stalks which are emerging from the side of the tree trunk. The stems are dark, nearly black but the mushroom caps are cream in colour. They are frilly, and point upwards. Zooming in, the intricacies of the tubes are visible.
A giant puffball mushroom which is a spherical white ball. There are a couple of spots where it was nibbled on (by probable slugs) but is otherwise very smooth. It is situated next to a log in the forest with a bright red maple leaf close by. Some greenery still remains in the background.
