One of the things that bothers me about all this #AI hype is that most of the tasks that it claims to do can be performed more efficiently and sustainably with basic algorithms. Indeed, in the case of recommendation engines, these already existed and were performing better than current models.
If you have been paying any attention, then you already know that personal recommendations (like film, music, search, text) are getting worse. This is partly because of a lazy approach to clustering data.
