Practiced may double stops (and french 😬) on the viola and had to think back to @Violinknitter who ranted about why you really need short finger nails to play string instruments.
While I could play the left side with the empty string at the bottom passingly with not entirely short finger nails, there really was no chance do the right hand side with the empty string for the upper note. The not even 1mm I cut made all the difference. Amazing.
