Discussing inclusion with participatory formats and institutions is important, and creativity does live off diversity and freedom. However, these matters are not only intricacies of discrimination, intersectionality, and micropower, but a very material issue of resources: who has time to join, who can travel, who can incorporate cultural capital to contribute? There is gatekeeping beyond the safe space. A systemic problem depriving democracy of its creativity.
In fact, Mead discussed for the US situation over a hundred years ago, that it won't work to have participatory democracy with many struggling for education and the freedom for creative, participatory activity - all the more the production of work force tapping into education, deciding what schools should teach (the useful, exploitable stuff).
Thus, democracy should demand welfare state and free education. Remember that the next time we discuss omitting 'useless' arts and literature classes next time.
