CO2 from fires with sea surface temperature since 2003 until Sept 26.
Each coordinate as percent of its monthly all-time maximum (fire CO2) and percent of all-time max (sst).
SST: Percent of all-time maximum is a form of anomaly that allows easy plotting of values alongside totally different things. But it systemically can't show the Cold Blob South of Greenland as canary for #AMOC slowdown because each coordinate is treated individually, without connection to its neighbors or global evolution.
The satellite observation in my %ATM view creates an odd artefact at the North pole. Can be ignored.
CO2: as explained before, monthly % of a coordinate's all-time maximum allows distinguishing regular, normal fires from irregular ones. Regular fires are blue-ish, irregular fires are orange.
In North America, irregular fires in the off-season mean prescribed fires to reduce load in #wildfires. Of course, CO2 from prescribed fires also counts toward the forever-debt in CO2. But they might prevent bigger wildfires and thus potentially balance out, without all the damage to infrastructure.
East China (part of "central Asia" in the bar chart), Pakistan, India (forgot to add the region to the bar chart):
I hope, they stop their regular fires, soon. As visible in the declining CO2 in Africa data, agriculture without fires is entirely possible.
Also better health-wise for animals and humans.
The extent of the June-July fires 2023 in East #Canada are shocking, aren't they. They must have been huge and HOT!
2021 was a bad year for Siberia's boreal #forest .
And the very last month, September 2024, clearly shows orange CO2 from Putler's assholery on #Ukraine 's border.
