The updated version of the article points out that Trump can't serve a third term after 2028 without a 2/3rds vote in both the House and the Senate, something that on paper seems very unlikely.
Unfortunately, if you believe the minority opinion in the immunity case, this is irrelevant.
If Trump takes power, he can legally order his political opponents assassinated, or imprisoned (with no legal basis). And then pardon those doing the deed.
Trump may try to stir up some violence if he loses. But compared to what may happen if he wins, that's an irrelevance.
Worst case, either a dictator or a civil war.
