Why is there all this discussion of who would take over for Joe? VPs take over. That's one of the primary criteria for a VP. They have to be ready to step in.
If Democrats didn't like the idea of Kamala taking over for Joe if something happened to him, why didn't they have that discussion with him before he declared he was going to run again, when he could have picked a different VP?
It seems to me that the country IS comfortable with her there. I've not heard any great uproar since the pair of them were elected.
She is the obvious successor.
She also has important strengths and experiences, not least of which is that she can properly articulate the reproductive freedom issue, which by all rights SHOULD be a winning issue for the Democrats.
And it isn't just about the debate. Biden was losing before that over issues like Gaza. If anything, the debate gives the Dems cover to show they've heard those objections and give disaffected voters, who might otherwise vote third party, a reason to claim success on their objections to Biden and join back in.
Joe should step down.
She should step up.
Everyone else should ...
... think harder.
She'd be a big improvement.
