Their source for this claptrap is Patrick Brown, a visiting research professor at a Silicon Valley university. Brown also works, by the way, for the Breakthrough Institute, founded by Michael Shellenberger and Ted Nordhaus.
Michael Shellenberger has said that global warming is “not the end of the world” and that GMO, industrial agriculture, fracking, and nuclear power are important tools in protecting the environment. His writing on climate change and environmentalism has been criticized by scientists and academics, who have called his arguments bad science and inaccurate.

Ted Nordhaus is the guy, of course, who won a Nobel Prize for claiming that 3°C of warming might not be a bad thing after all, that the benefits could outweigh the costs.
