Add this to the long list of reasons Australia is firmly off the list of places I would move to.

A coach gets sacked for cheering on an athlete from another country. You never know when people like PP are in high places, but I hope this doesn't happen in Canada. I remember hearing a story a long time ago (never confirmed by me). During the famous ('72?) Canada Russia hockey game, every time the Russian goalie made a save, the Canadian crowd roared. Apparently he was really good. He was surprised by all the cheering as he was on the opposing team. And he had asked why the crowd cheered for him despite being on the other team and he was told that crowd was just cheering for good hockey.

I am told he later defected to Canada and that was a major reason.

Whether the story is true or not, can we not just have good sport? Sacking a guy for cheering someone he worked with from another country on is now unpatriotic? Just gross.
