The #NDP breaking from the Liberals today is terrifying because it feels like its the first domino in what feels like an inevitable road to a far-right government.
Having said that, this is the NDP's once-in-a-decade opportunity to slingshot past the Liberals as the actual opposition party of the people. What scares me is that deep in my heart I dont think Jagmeet is the driver who is going to get the party into a position to form government after PP.
Ideal scenario in my mind is that Jagmeet steps down and is replaced by a blue-collar populist who can translate popular public opinions (aka capitalism bad) into actual messages that deeply resonate. They keep CPC from a majority government and then combine with Bloq or something to consistently make life a living nightmare for PP as they gradually build a base for a majority government in 2029.
