The fediverse's racism problems stem less from it's creators and more from it's maintainers: tech and hierarchical admin. We all know about those two...
in short: it's the mirror of the real world, instead of a reflection of a better future. Some admins are better than others but still, the problem is mostly the people with power who just sit and watch. No real definitive policy to defend Trans, POC, Indigenous, or non conformal radicalist ideas.
It's just a bigger version of a current-day digital plaza, with a few silver linings.
This isn't the solution, it's just another stepping stone. We can do better, and if I can further my code and DSA know how, I'll try my hand at making something better.
